The broad aim of CBPHP is to promote health in its multiple dimensions - physical, mental, spiritual and social - and disease prevention through inclusive, collective, community-based endeavors guided by the following principles and approaches:
- Promotion of community-based comprehensive models of best practices for family-centered preventive health supports, health promotion and improvements in quality of life of families, neighborhoods and communities at large.
- Pursuit of community-based, family-centered, individualized training, job placement and follow-up services that foster self-determination, independence, inclusion and contributions to community life as essential aspects of health.
- Establishment and supports for activities that foster mutual learnings and exchanges to enhance the quality of health care for children and youth with disabilities at local national and international levels.
- Engagement in research and program evaluation activities that cherish inclusion and contributions of marginalized groups in the process knowledge creation and uses for disease prevention, health promotion and improvements in the quality of life of families, neighborhoods and communities at large.
- Acknowledgement of contributions of marginalized individuals and groups in the process of knowledge creation through CBPHP activities and effective, unrestricted access to affirm their ownership of the knowledge so created.
- Serve as framework and instrument for ongoing interactions to share and refine ideas, tools and strategies for inclusive, enduring, healthy communities.
