CBPHP undertakes activities independently, in collaboration with other organizations, provides technical supports to aid neighborhood and grassroots organizations, and as the locus and 'space' for interactions and exchanges for community building ideas and skills. Specific services and framework for their delivery are:
RESEARCH: Design and implementation of inclusive, participatory research protocols for disease prevention, health promotion and overall healthy communities. CBPHP research on Children With Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) exemplifies this approach.
EVALUATION: Design, planning, training, tools and supports for community based, family centered and consumer driven strategies to access and refine program services for community building, improvements in health and quality of life. See information under Research and Program Evaluation.
EMPLOYMENT AND INDEPENDENT LIVING: Technical supports for community-based, family centered and consumer driven strategies for improvements in health, community integration and improvement in overall quality of life of individuals with disabilities. This orientation stresses the value of the contributions and unique gifts of individuals with disabilities to their communities. Relate CBPHP activities are: Community and Neighborhood Supports, Transition and Independent Living, Rehabilitation Counseling and Job Development.
COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS serve as framework for links to CBPHP ideas, principles, information and exchanges to identify gaps in knowledge and ongoing refinements in inclusive community building endeavors. CBPHP website, library of information, opportunities for immediate interactions and exchanges, and as a virtual community are essential components of Community of Learners. In addition to its roles as storehouse and exchanges of ideas, Community of Learners is envisioned as a safe and caring environment to nurture individual and collective imaginations for their transformative power.
